Smart Door Monitoring System

Emfit SafeDoor is a smart door monitoring system specially designed for people with dementia. There are an increasing number of people with dementia who live at home or in assisted living facilities. For such persons, the risk of wandering and getting lost is high, especially at night, as there are often times a limited number of personnel to notice someone is missing. SafeDoor is a discreet and intelligent door monitoring system, that monitors the door and alarms to the caregiver in case of wandering. SafeDoor's advanced functionality notices and alerts only in the event a person leaves and does not return within preset time.

The monitor device (D-1170-2G) has both audible alarm and dry-contact output for connecting to existing nurse call system. GSM version (D-1172-2G) is wireless using cellular phone network for alarm transfer. Both systems use Emfit floor sensor (L-6090SL) inside at the door and magnetic switch at the door frame.

Reduced Nuisance Alarms

Immediate alarms are most appropriate when help is nearby. If help is far away, as might be the case with in-home care situations, it is very important that the system be as "nuisance-free" as possible so unnecessary check-ups are minimized. Independent people with dementia don't always avoid unnecessary door openings when the alarm is on. Also, immediate alarms restrict people who are normally cognitively alert and capable of short walks by themselves. Intelligent SafeDoor alarms after the preset time has been exceeded and the person has not returned inside. The delayed alarm minimizes unnecessary alarms and enables more independent living. The minimum delay is 10 seconds while the maximum delay is 60 minutes. The smart delay feature requires both the floor sensor and the magnetic switch.

Wireless SafeDoor Calls to Caregiver's Phone

SafeDoor GSM is a sophisticated and easy-to-use wireless door monitoring system that alarms via cellular phone network. This version does not require any additional alarm transfer system due to its embedded GSM cellular phone module. Alarm numbers are stored at the SIM card that inserts into the alarm device. The caregiver only needs a handheld phone with display and address book feature to see where the alarm call originates. The system automatically ensures that every alarm is received and it also has a call-forwarding capability to two reserve numbers. It is easy to install or remove because it only requires an electrical outlet and does not need any additional hardware or software. This wireless system is, in many cases, a cheaper alternative to a smaller nurse-call system. On/Off switch also acts as a bypass button for personnel who want to pass through a doorway without triggering the alarm.
