Emfit's new 2nd Generation Bed Occupancy Monitor
In the summer 2008 released 2nd generation SafeBed is a new state-of-the-art bed monitoring system for fall and wandering prevention. SafeBed is specifically designed for persons who are unable to summon for help unassisted, such as those suffering from dementia. It consists of a monitor device (D-1070-2G) and under-mattress bed sensor (L-4060SL).
The Emfit bed sensor is totally undetectable as it is installed under the mattress, with 2nd generation electronics even under spring mattress. Therefore it outlasts its competion by years and saves from repeated sensor replacement costs.
The alarm will sound in seconds after the person has left the bed. It also allows for a preset delay before alarming so nurse can be notified if the person does not return to bed within the given time. This will provide enough time for going to the bathroom and returning back to bed.
The SafeBed has an audible alarm with adjustable volume and dry-contact output for connection to nurse call or personal emergeny phones.
Unique, Proprietary Sensor Technology
Emfit SafeBed consists of two main components. The ultra thin and flexible but highly durable bed sensor (L-4060SL) is awarded with several patents. The bedside monitor (D-1070-2G) uses our newest sophisticated embedded software and electronics. These together detect the micro-movements of a person lying on bed - even heart beating and breathing, on which pesron's presence and absence notifications are based.
There is no particular weight limits and system is sensitive enough also for small children. As Emfit sensors are one, unitary, flexible and thin laminate they last for years.
Adjustable Delay
SafeBed operates as a fall or bed-exit alarm. It monitors the presence or absence of a person in bed by detecting the person's micro-movements caused by the heart beating and respiration. When the moitor detects the person has left the bed, it gives notification. The shortest delay can be set at 5 seconds to avoid false alarms. The delay can be extended to 5, 15, 30 or 60 minutes. This feature enables for example person going to the bathroom without unnecessary notification to caregiver before allowed time has passed.
In the summer 2008 released 2nd generation monitor is now operated with 2 pcs AA size 1,5 V batteries. An optional, medical grade AC adapter is also available.
